The Basics

Numerology is very simple and maybe you’ll find it interesting to learn. It’s an ancient human tradition, and you can be sure that your great-great-great-great-great grandparents knew people who were doing something like numerology.

It’s all based on an accessible idea: that everything in life has meaning. Then, it says that it’s possible to map numbers onto those meanings. Usually the Western systems of astrology trace themselves back to Pythagorus, who believed that everything in the universe was tuned to numerical constants.

The letters of the alphabet are mapped onto a simple grid like this, and then you just do a variety of calculations with those letters. The numbers have roughly predictable meanings, which you can read about on the Number Meanings page. There are also two Master Numbers (sometimes three) that are specially used.

The cycle of 1-9 is just that: a circle that you go around over and over. Life is full of its ups and downs, but they are remarkably similar even when different people experience so many different things. The trick is to always remember that you are in cycles, and to keep moving — no matter what.
